Worcester County Environmental Community Agricultural Network, Inc. was established in December 2015, as a way to expand and enhance the Shrewsbury Farmers Market. WE CAN will advocate for social and environmental responsibility. WE CAN’s mission is to pro-actively work with a wide range of Worcester County community members to promote and enhance healthier natural resources: land, air, water and empower people to work towards more social and environmental responsibility. This includes fresh food security and availability through local farms, preservation and conservation of open space and wild life habitats, watershed, clean energy and other sustainable practices including reusing, reducing and recycling.
WE CAN provides materials, financial and educational opportunities and other resources to enhance and promote environmental awareness. WE CAN will operate and manage a community oriented farmer market allowing local vendors to sell healthy local agricultural products and to educate the public about the availability and to provide community-building events. WE CAN will educate the public of the economic and health benefits provided by consuming food products raised in a local community. Strengthening the local food safety network
